Article Six Group works alongside governments and developers to mobilize investment for critical, clean infrastructure to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Practical barriers and financial risk often prevent capital from reaching the most impactful projects, particularly in developing countries. We are advancing new ways to mobilize climate finance globally by blending concessional and commercial capital to crowd in the private sector.
Our work includes a specific focus on carbon markets and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. We help governments to develop national policy frameworks, build institutional capacity, and structure pilots, harnessing the Article 6 investment model that we developed.
Transmission Infrastructure in Rwanda
Article Six Group is structuring the first-ever use of Article 6 carbon finance for transmission infrastructure via a pilot project in Rwanda. The project will connect a major new hydropower plant in central Rwanda, and uses the Article 6 investment model proposed by our founder, Ely Sandler, and other Harvard academics.
Electrifying Burundi
Article Six Group is mobilizing carbon finance to support the electrification of Burundi, via a major expansion of the energy grid. This work will transform the energy access landscape across rural Burundi.
Policy Development for COP28
Article Six Group worked with the UAE to develop innovative policy proposals and ideas as part of the preparations for COP28 in 2023. Our focus was on unlocking private sector investment potential to support the energy transition.
